Sleepy Shara

Just watching Shara slowly come back from the land of nod. Nice nap after an active day of visiting the Slaters and having lunch at a tavern in Middleboro. She was out as soon as we hit I-495. We finally exchanged x-mas presents and Shara got a cute toy for the tub, which she'll love, being a great fan of splashing H2O.

One big yeah for Shar - she went from sitting to reaching forward until she plopped onto her belly, without crying or getting upset! She's really starting to move around. She almost went from back to front, but stopped just before going over.

Having fun in the Jolly Jumper

Shara loves to jump! Thank you Kristin & Dave for the great hand-me-down. This is where Shara spends some mornings watching mommy have her coffee.

Today we're going to have another unexpected day together. The roads are icy enough to keep up home from work, so Shara will be playing in the office while mom works at the computer. She's playing her piano now and singing (loudly) to Peter, Paul and Mary.

1/20/05 - 1/22/05

Today I had a meeting and ended a little early so I picked up Shara and we went to visit at the Whistlestop branch of the Easton Library. It's always good for people to remember that SAILS staff are also members of the community, plus I don't think we've been to a library together since the fall, when we visited in Mansfield.

Shara's getting really good at eating now and we have a bit of a schedule. I nurse her 2x in the morning, then she has a bottle, or I nurse, around 11am. Then her solid lunch at about 1pm or so. Then she gets another bottle, or I nurse her, anywhere from 3:30pm - 6pm. Then I nurse her again 1 or 2 more times that evening, depending on when she last ate.

We're expecting the "storm of the season" tonight, so when Shara wakes up from her nap, we'll go to the market, along with everyone else!, and then spend the rest of the weekend bundled up at home!

Daddy and Shara met mommy at ALA Mid-winter and we had a good time walking around the Prudential Center. We also had lunch at the food court and Shara had some of mommy's rice.

1/15/05

Dad took care of Shara while mom went to ALA mid-winter.

Yabroudy (1:48:37 PM): Shara woke at 1:23. I attempted to feed her at 1:30 but she only ate a few bites. At 1:40 we played in our ExerSaucer while dad worked on ad server.

Yabroudy (2:45:50 PM): We ate at around 2:20 and then got out of our food covered outfit. Changed diaper at the same time (2:40). Eating was an experience. She didn't appear interested. I don't think that she doesn't want to take solid food from you. What I finally figured out is that we can't give her much choice. I just kept shoving spoon fulls of food into her mouth. When it was there she had no choice but to eat it or spray it at dad while doing raspberrys :-P. Our little face was covered with food. I took a few pictures. Don't know if they came out.

Yabroudy (2:46:03 PM): We are now talking while playing on jiminy

Yabroudy (2:48:18 PM): we also had a few sips of water from sippy cup while eating

Yabroudy (3:26:03 PM): after playing on the jiminy for a little while we got cranky. Shara sat on the couch next to dad and played with her linkadoo bear and the soft guy with the pointy hat and scarf. dad tickled shara's lips with the pointy hat and we laughed. Then we got tired and cranky at 3:20 so we are taking another nap now.

Yabroudy (4:32:21 PM): we woke up at 4:15 had bottle from4:20-30

Yabroudy (4:42:51 PM): we're now on our exersaucer again

1/8/05 - 1/13/05

Well, Shara and mom are both fighting a cold, which someone from daycare was nice enough to pass on. She's still smiling as much as usual, but isn't too keen about having her nosey nose wiped! Although she doesn't seem to mind having it sucked out. Since she's doing so well with solids, we've started substituting one of her daytime feedings with rice & a fruit or vegetable. She seems to eat much better for them at school than for us here, but she also eats with all the other kids. This week she's had bananas and avocado.

1/4/05 - 1/7/05

This week Shara went to school with a solid food lunch. Miss. Nancy & Miss Donna were so impressed with how much she loved her rice! She didn't spill a drop. She's had rice, applesauce, sweet potatoes, and pears. Friday night I tried to give her a bite of my big person's sweet potato. I had checked to make sure it wasn't hot, and put a little bit on my fork. She gave a look like her mouth was on fire and I freaked out a little. Alan said he thought she got upset because I freaked, and I said that she freaked first. I'm still not sure what the problem was. There is no way it was hot, but maybe she didn't like the fork, or the texture may have been so foreign. I don't know, but I'll try again today (Saturday). I saved some of the potato and will mash it with her rice this time.

1/3/05

Shara came home from Day Care today and was her usual happy self. We decided to do another round of tummy time. Shara decided "today's a good day to roll over." And to really excite Mom and Dad, Shara rolled over twice.

1/2/05

We bought Shara the next size of car seat, since she's really reaching the height limit in the infant seat. We then went to the Yabroudy's for a couple of hours to visit with familly friends. We didn't want to stay for dinner, since Shara's been doing so well going to bed at 7:30pm.

1/1/05

We had so much fun today. We went to Quincy and went shopping at the Super 88 market and then to an Asian mall. Shara had a great time looking at all the interesting fish and food. There were also a lot of new smells for her to experience. Daddy thought she really like the upside down fish the best - not dead, just upside down. It was weird. We all agreed that we wouldn't want to eat a fish that wasn't swimming the correct way.

Oahu 2023 - Day 6

Since I believed my official time of isolation was over, I took a bus to Pearl Harbor. There weren't any tours available, but I learned...
