First filling
Shara got her filling yesterday - no Novocain or Nitrous. She did great even though she was very sore after. Held it together until we were out of the office and in the car. I turned around 2 times to go back, thinking she had to get more filing down to make it more comfortable, but then figured we wouldn't be able to tell the problem until the soreness went away. I also thought a doughnut would help and it certainly did - complete attitude change.
Today she's fine. No pain.
Speaking of attitude changes, we decided that she would bring pictures of brutus and family to school to make her miss him less, and that would make her happier at home. We'll give it a whirl. I promised her Bendables for our trip to grandpa's if she could change her attitude and be happier at home. That would make us all happy. I think we just all need a vacation!

Playing with the big kids
Sunday we went to the Phillips' for a dinner party. Shara took about an hour to warm up, but then she didn't want to leave. She had a great time playing with Alex and Andrea (both 10). They were great - played hide & seek, had Shara being the ball girl for ping-pong, etc. It was very different for me - Alan & I were upstairs and the kids were playing by themselves in the basement. Very cool and she had so much fun! One time I went down and Andrea was playing Guitar Hero and Shara was doing this interesting dance of jumping from her right foot to her left and back again - side to side. She told me I had to get out of the way because this was the area for the important dances. She was really funny.
She also tried everything I gave her for supper and ended up really liking the raita - cucumber, tomato, yogurt, cilantro, and garlic. So I'm going to make that. That was the only thing she said I should make for us at home. She also ended up trying one of my bagels on Sunday and liked it. How about that. I actually got a thumbs up!

Yes - ear infection
We took Shara to the doctor yesterday and she does have an ear infection. What I didn't realize is that she hasn't had one for a long time. I can't remember the month she said, but it was 2007. And this was a strain of the flu that's going around, but luckily she missed almost all of the symptoms. Shara was nervous about getting a shot, but was assured there wouldn't be one this time. We didn't mention next time! So she's taking antibiotics and slept all last night without even having any Motrin. She did have a little tough time falling asleep and got up about 8:45 and told Alan she had a dream about a bear smooshing her and eating her. But then went back to bed easily for the rest of the night and is still sleeping now.

Sick
Alan's going to stay home with Shara today. She woke up with a bad dream last night and boy was she hot - took temp - 102.5. Gave Tylenol and she's sleeping. She wasn't acting sick at all, so I'm not too worried. She does have a cough. Alan got her to blow her nose good last night - threatened and when that didn't work, bribed. I'm ok with that! I'm guessing if she hadn't gotten her nose clear last night, the coughing would be much worse and I'd be much more worried.

Kindergarten Orientation - Part 1
Well tonight Alan & I went to kindergarten orientation at the school Shara will be attending next year. We're hoping there will be room in the extended day kindergarten, so she'll be able to get the bus at home, then spend the day at school, then go to the after school program at the place up the road. I really think she'll love it. Once a week they go to the library and get to pick out a book themselves, they have music classes, art classes, field trips to Ward's Berry Farm, the Franklin Zoo, and Sheep pasture, she'll even have lunch and recess with the rest of the school (if she's in the xtended prog.) We even saw the parents of a girl she goes to dance with and I know there are a couple more kids she should know. I'm excited! I think it sounds like great fun! Now I'm laughing at myself - Shara would say, "calm down mommy, relax."
I do say "part 1" because we have registration day (which we need to reschedule because we'll be on vacation), screening day, week before school where they post the bus schedules and tradition has it all the parents line up to view the boards, though it's also available in the Journal, and Shaws, but now I'm really part of the community so need to be there too, right?, orientation day #2 (where Shara comes and visits the school), then we make it to the first day of school. That's not counting the extra few times we'll go when the weather gets better to play on the playground or see a band play. I have a feeling I may be at the school almost as much as Shara will!
