first cavity

so we went to the dentist last tuesday and shara has a cavity. we always knew she was at high risk because there are a few molars that don't have the enamel properly formed. So she has an appointment but the dentist is great and this place is strictly for kids so they know what to say and not to say and we're basically not saying anything because she loves going to the dentist and doesn't seem worried about it at all. I am, of course.

This morning she did a great job saying goodbye to me, though yesterday she didn't want to talk about me being away all day today and daddy having to take her to school and pick her back up. It got her scared because it was something different. I promised I'd be back to do night nights with her.

A few photos

2009winter
We also had a very nice, and short, time with Aunt Jill & Samantha. Shara was so excited they were here and says we have to do it again, and soon and longer! She can't wait to wear the Ariel life preserver this summer!

Chocolate covered strawberries

Saturday evening we did dinner and a movie - Mulan. It was really good - none of us had seen it before. We downloaded it from CinemaNow because the Madagascar dvd we borrowed was too scratched up to watch. We planned on having the chocolate fondue with strawberries, but Shara was too tired so we saved it for Sunday. We had a pajama day on Sunday and learned to play Uno. That was quite fun. For supper we finished with the strawberries and after they were gone, switched to coffee ice cream - yum yum!

missing family

yesterday I told Shara that Jill & Samantha were coming for an overnight next week and she asked if I said, "I love for you to come!" to Jill when I talked to her. I told her I said something like that, but didn't know if I used those exact words. She said I should have. She also said something to the effect of being so happy because she wanted some of that family to visit soon. She really misses everyone and we do need to see "that family" more often. If it weren't for the darn snow!

Oh and Jill & family, we did get the card and she loves the washcloth, but didn't want to call and thank you. I'll try again tonight when we're making our chocolate dipped strawberries for her class party.

Legislative Breakfast

Shara came with me to the annual Legislative Breakfast and was great. No surprise there, but I was very proud of her. She almost didn't go because she was nervous about getting to school late. I think she is scared of being the center of attention, but she's was so much the leader at her birthday, I'm not sure what is the controlling factor. Anyway, she was very good when we got to school - went to Mr. Tony and nothing was a big deal. We did have to stop at home to get Ducky & Giraffe, but she didn't even notice they weren't with us at the breakfast! She was happy about that.

Yesterday we, I, made Valentine's Day cookies. She didn't really want to help, but did put on some sprinkles and frosted one of the cookies. She's been a lot of fun these days. Watches way too much TV, but she's so busy at school I can understand it. I think I watched TV non-stop for most of my childhood and think I turned out ok. People correct me if I'm wrong!

Yesterday she also had a camp out in our bedroom - I set up her little beach tent and she got her sleeping bag and other assorted camping gear, like her tea set and bunny. It was cute. She is cute, funny, silly. The other day I said something and she asked if I was being "sircastic". I asked, "do you mean sarcastic?" and she answered, "no, sircastic". So we had fun with my attempt at announcing, "I am Sir Castic, etc.". She got so giggly! I can't remember what we were being silly about the other night, but I had to tell her to breath, she was laughing so hard. Must have been about poophing or something similar.

Oahu 2023 - Day 6

Since I believed my official time of isolation was over, I took a bus to Pearl Harbor. There weren't any tours available, but I learned...
